US, UK, EU and Australian Bedding Size Guide

Why market names are not enough and how to create a reliable bedding size schedule for international hotel projects.

Names such as Queen, King, Double and Single do not represent one universal measurement. They vary by country, brand and mattress manufacturer. Hotel procurement should use finished dimensions in millimeters or centimeters, not size names alone.

Build the schedule from the mattress

Record mattress width, length and depth for every room type. Add topper depth where used. Then define the required drop, tuck, pocket depth or overhang for each product.

Separate product dimensions

  • Fitted sheets need mattress dimensions, pocket depth and elastic construction.
  • Flat sheets need finished width and length based on tuck and presentation.
  • Duvet covers must match the approved duvet, not only the mattress.
  • Pillowcases must match pillow dimensions, loft and closure type.
  • Bed runners and protectors need their own finished measurements.

Account for shrinkage

State whether ordered dimensions are pre-wash or finished after laundering. Agree on tolerances and validate samples with the intended laundry program.

Keep one controlled schedule

Create a room-type matrix with product code, finished dimensions, material, color, construction and quantity. Use the same controlled document for quotation, sample approval, production and replenishment.
